Onalaska, TX — May 10, 2026, Debra Harris was injured in a car accident at about 11:20 a.m. on U.S. Highway 190 near Lake Livingston.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2015 Jeep Cherokee was heading east when it rear-ended at 2022 Ford Maverick near Badgerow Road. The Jeep had defective brakes, according to the report.

Ford driver Debra Harris, 71, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. The 78-year-old man riding with her was not hurt.

The Jeep driver, a 17-year-old boy, was listed as possibly injured, the report states.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Polk County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Initial reports indicate the Jeep had a problem with its brakes, but we can’t just assume that is correct. It will take a forensic examination by a qualified expert to confirm this crash was caused by faulty brakes, rather than a careless teenage driver.

If that exam confirms the Jeep had defective brakes, it is worth looking into whether that was due to a manufacturing defect or a shoddy repair job.

The injured Ford driver and her family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this accident.
