Accident Report
May 4, 2026, Debra Gradberg and four others were injured following a car accident at around 2:36 p.m. along Highway 149.
According to initial details about the accident, it took place southeast of Longview near the intersection of TX-149 (Miller Street) and Cherokee Trail.
Authorities reported that 59-year-old Debra Gradberg and a 70-year-old man were in a Jeep Gladiator traveling eastbound on the highway. While doing so, a Ford Ranger allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign, and the vehicles collided. A Ford Econoline van also crashed.
Debra Gradberg reportedly was seriously injured in the accident. The Econoline driver also was seriously injured. Three others had less severe injuries. Authorities reportedly charged the Ranger driver for failure to yield.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Failure to yield is often a sign that a driver wasn’t paying attention. Maybe it was just a lapse in judgment, or maybe it was something more direct, like looking at their cellphone. It’s important investigations are thorough enough to cover other possibilities, as well.
For example, was this a work vehicle, and the driver was rushing to meet a deadline? That may not be as common as something like distracted driving, but it could lead to a far more complex legal situation for the victims and families. It’s important they have all the evidence and tools needed to navigate those situations should they arise.
So either authorities can show they’re covering all their bases, or there may need to be more thorough independent investigations to make sure no stone goes unturned. Do you agree that’s how serious crashes should be handled? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
