UPDATE (September 30, 2025): Authorities identified the man killed in the accident as David Guadalupe Garza.
Harris County, TX — September 17, 2025, a man was fatally injured due to a car versus pedestrian accident around 3:40 a.m. along the Gulf Freeway.
According to preliminary statements on the accident, the incident happened along the southbound service road of I-45 near Dixie Farm Road.
Investigators said that an unidentified man was on foot at the time in the area of the service road. A Ford Fusion going southbound reportedly struck the man, and the pedestrian was killed.
Authorities did not report any charges for the driver. The cause of the accident remains unconfirmed.

People often write off pedestrian accidents as simple, but they can be just as complex as any serious car accident. Investigations need to cover everything from road conditions to visibility to lighting and signage to alcohol to medical conditions. These are just a few examples of factors I’ve seen contribute to serious accidents which authorities simply overlooked in their rush to move on to other responsibilities. Perhaps they were more thorough with this accident, but that remains to be seen.
