Accident Report

June 25, 2026, at least 15 people were hurt as the result of a DART bus accident early Thursday on Harry Hines Boulevard.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened off the intersection of Harry Hines Boulevard and Exchange Parkway.

According to current reports, a DART bus was going along Harry Hines when it hit “a hole” after a metal plate in an area under construction shifted under the bus.

Due to the crash, reports say that 15 people from the bus were taken to the hospital. There did not appear to be serious injuries. At this time, additional details about the accident are under investigation.

How Did This Accident Occur?

People might be quick to write this off as just a freak accident. But there are plenty of roads around Dallas which have or have had those metal plates that maintenance and construction crews put over dangerous holes. Usually, they stay in place—after all, there are countless people driving over the plates. Any construction crew putting them down should make pretty darn sure those plates aren’t going anywhere. So what was different here? Was the plate not installed properly? Was it old or worn and shouldn’t have been used? Has the company who put the plate there been involved in other accidents recently? Is there a history of safety violations or poor quality work?

These are the questions I hope authorities are already working to answer. If anyone else has thoughts, though, share them in the comments.
