Accident Report
June 27, 2026, Darius Webb and one other were injured following a car accident that happened around 10:23 p.m. along La Salle Avenue.
Initial details about the accident say that the crash happened at the intersection of La Salle Avenue and 18th Street, just off I-35.
According to officials, 31-year-old Darius Webb and a 24-year-old woman were in a Kia going southbound through the intersection. A Chevy Silverado was going eastbound when it reportedly ran the light. As a result, the vehicles collided.
Reports say Darius Webb was seriously injured and the woman from the Kia was moderately injured. The Chevy driver apparently had no injuries. Authorities say they recommended charging the driver of the Chevy for running the light and for having an open container in the vehicle. It’s unclear at this time if alcohol is considered a factor in the crash.
How Did This Accident Occur?
I certainly don’t have more information about this crash than what’s in these preliminary reports. However, I have been a part of literally hundreds of drunk driving accident investigations. It’s pretty rare for someone to have an open container in their vehicle during a crash and alcohol not be a factor in the accident.
It’s possible authorities had to continue investigations before making those claims. For example, if that driver was intoxicated, and a local liquor store or gas station unlawfully over-served them, then the investigations might not be complete until authorities investigate that potentially negligent and complicit alcohol provider.
Again, maybe the reported charge of an open container is purely coincidental to the crash. That’s up to the evidence to say for sure. I just have my doubts that someone happens to allegedly run a light with an open container in their vehicle and somehow managed to do it all sober.
