UPDATE (March 12, 2024): Recent reports have been released which identify the victims who lost their lives as a result of this incident. The sole occupant of the 18-wheeler was 51-year-old Daniel Liddicoat. Of the nine passengers in the van, seven were reportedly ejected during the course of the accident. The only survivor from the van was apparently a 2-year-old child who received treatment at a local hospital and has since been released. The van’s passengers who lost their lives are as follows: 46-year-old James McCoy, 44-year-old Linda Byler, 24-year-old Lydia Byler, 24-year-old Orla Schrock, 32-year-old Ellen Schrock, 21-year-old Delila Schrock, 18-year-old Suzanna Hertzler, and a 6-month old baby.
Dewhurst, WI — March 8, 2024, nine people were killed and one was injured in a truck versus passenger van accident shortly before 8:00 a.m. along S.H. 95.
According to authorities, an 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound on State Highway 95 approaching the County Road J intersection when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound passenger van occupied by nine people on County Road J was involved in a collision with the eastbound 18-wheeler. Everyone involved in the accident with the exception of one person from the passenger van incurred fatal injuries as a result of the wreck and was declared deceased at the scene. The lone survivor sustained injuries of unknown severity and was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident —including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
