How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, it’s not clear why this pickup crashed in a construction zone near I-10. Was the driver distracted, fatigued or impaired? Did he swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did the pickup have a problem with its brakes? The best way to sort out what happened here, in my experience, is to wait until the investigation is completed.

Investigators will work to piece together events leading to this crash by poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage. Cell phone records could show what the driver was doing at the time.

If authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this accident, a qualified expert should examine the Chevrolet in a laboratory setting. Few law enforcement agencies have the time or training for such inspections, but the family grieving this crash deserves to know as much as possible about what caused this crash.
