Accident Report

Orange, TX — April 23, 2026, Dale Rose was killed in a car accident just before 6 a.m. in the 1900 block of MacArthur Drive/U.S. Highway 90 Business.

Authorities said a sedan hit a pedestrian walking on the side of the road west of Orange Lions City Park.

The pedestrian, 59-year-old Dale Rose, died at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.

The driver reportedly is cooperating with authorities, but there is no word yet on whether charges will be filed in the wake of the crash.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Orange County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear from what’s been reported so far how this accident happened. Was the area well lit? Did any other vehicles manage to avoid the pedestrian? Did the car that hit him have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism?

A full investigation is the best way to find answers to these questions, so the pedestrian’s family will know all they can about this crash.

Investigators will pore over witness statements, data from the vehicle and available video footage of the crash. I hope they also will secure cell phone records to see if the driver may have been distracted. An outside expert may be needed if authorities suspect a vehicle defect contributed to the crash, because in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training to conduct a forensic examination of the car.
