Guadalupe County, TX — September 21, 2024, Dakota Wright was killed and one was injured following a car accident at around 12:30 a.m. on I-35.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened along southbound lanes of the interstate near the Schertz Parkway overpass.

According to officials, 28-year-old Dakota Lamar Wright was a passenger in a Ford Fusion going along I-35. For reasons unclear, the Ford crashed into a barricade, then hit multiple vehicles in traffic. As a result of the collision, Wright sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Ford had serious injuries. There were no other confirmed injuries.

Generally speaking, people tend to just write off accidents like this as the result of distracted driving or speeding. Those are obviously possibilities worth considering, but even uncommon possible factors need attention. Mechanical issues, tire blowouts, medical conditions, unlawful over-service by an alcohol provider, road conditions, etc. If authorities only consider surface-level details, they’re bound to miss something important the victims and families deserve to know. Are authorities here being more thorough?
