Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

As serious as the accusations surrounding this accident are, I’m not here to speculate. Instead, I want to address an issue that doesn’t often get the attention it deserves. When people read about an accident, and authorities are blaming someone, they think getting help for the victims involved in the crash automatically follows. That rarely happens.

Instead, what a lot of people learn is that the evidence authorities gather to pursue charges is not always aligned with evidence victims or families need to get help. As a result, people sometimes wait around for help that may not come unless they take steps to get the ball rolling themselves.

This is why I often talk about the importance of being proactive after an accident and making sure there are investigators working to preserve evidence which prioritizes getting people the help they deserve. I see no reason right now why this crash would be an exception to that.
