Accident Report
April 22, 2026, Connie Martinez and one other were injured following a car accident at around 11:36 a.m. along Highway 96.
Authorities said that the accident happened near the intersection of League City Parkway and Tuscan Lakes Boulevard.
According to officials, 37-year-old Connie Martinez was in a Toyota Corolla going northbound. A Dodge Ram truck was going eastbound. It appears the truck allegedly ran a red light, and the vehicles crashed.
Due to the collision, both Connie Martinez and the Dodge driver had reported injuries. Authorities recommended charges for the Dodge driver allegedly running the light.
How Did This Accident Occur?
A driver running a red light is obvious very concerning. Usually, it’s a sign the driver was looking at their phone or just being plain reckless. However, it’s important to rule out other possibilities, even if they seem unlikely.
For example, what if the vehicle that ran the light experienced some mechanical issue that caused its accelerator to stick? It takes proper training and tools to inspect a vehicle for a defect, and police departments don’t often prioritize that. As a result, the investigations may be incomplete unless independent investigators step in to pick up the slack.
Maybe authorities here have already taken steps so that won’t be necessary. However, it’s ultimately up to the victims and families affected by a crash to decide if they’re satisfied with the answers they’re getting from authorities. If not, that may be a sign there’s more to the story.
