As open-and-shut as these details may seem, having someone to blame is rarely the end of the story. At the end of the day, people need clear evidence to get a fair resolution following a serious crash. That’s not usually something police prioritize—especially when they can file charges or citations. So, even seemingly simple crashes can need further independent investigations to get a proper conclusion. The sooner steps are taken to get a crash in the right hands, the better.
