San Marcos, TX — December 9, 2023, Cocoa Riveira and three other people were injured in a truck accident just before 4:45 p.m. along S.H. 123.
According to reports, an 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on S.H. 123 approaching the Rattler Road intersection when the accident took place.

For as yet unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler failed to stop for the indicated red light, entering the intersection at an unsafe time. This resulted in a T-bone collision with an eastbound Nissan Sentra occupied by a 17-year-old man, a 17-year-old woman, and an infant. This collision caused the 18-wheeler to swerve left and into the northbound lanes of the highway. This led to a head-on collision with a Nissan Armada occupied by 49-year-old Cocoa Riveira which had been at a stop awaiting a green light.
Riveira and the infant passenger from the Nissan Sentra incurred suspected severe injuries due to the incident. Both of the 17-year-olds in the Sentra also sustained moderate injuries. All four were transported to local medical facilities in order to receive treatment.
The accident is under investigation by local authorities. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those thus far unnamed—are not available at this point in time.
