How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point what caused this accident. Was the pickup speeding? Did the car turn when it wasn’t safe? Was either driver distracted? DId one of these vehicles have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that investigators should consider as they work to reconstruct this crash.
Authorities typically rely on physical evidence, witness statements, vehicle data and any available video footage to piece together events leading to a crash like this, while cell phone reccords could show what each driver was doing at the time.
A qualified expert should examine the vehicles in a laboratory setting if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash, since most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or trainig for that kind of inspection, in my experience.
The investigation should provide the grieving families with a clear picture of what happend on S.H. 36.
