One of the most helpful things authorities can do in these situations is make as much information public as possible. A lot of the time when hit-and-runs see a resolution, it’s because someone was able to connect the dots that authorities couldn’t. Once that happens, steps can be taken to see accountability not just for the driver leaving the scene but also for whatever led that person to leave in the first place. Hopefully authorities keep up the pressure rather than brushing this situation aside before it’s been resolved.
