How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point what caused this crash. Was the driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? Did he swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did the Jeep have an issue with its throttle or steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that authorities should consider as they investigate this accident.
Investigators will work to reconstruct this accident by poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and any available video footage, while cell phone records could show if the driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time. An in-depth inspection of the Jeep will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.
Few law enforcement agencies have the time or training for such examinations, in my experience, but the Jeep driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this accident.
