Accident Report

Converse, TX — May 16, 2026, Christian Chan and another person were injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 12:30 p.m. on State Highway Loop 1604.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado collided with a 2018 Honda Civic that was turning from Ware Seguin Road.

Honda driver Christian Chan, 25, and the 27-year-old woman riding with him were seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.

The Chevrolet driver, who was listed as possibly injured, was charged with driving while intoxicated after the crash, the report states. The man riding with him was not hurt.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Bexar County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I expect authorities to investigate this crash to confirm it played out as reflected in the report from the initial officers on the scene, but their probe should go further than that if blood tests confirm the Chevrolet driver was intoxicated. Investigators should look into where he had been drinking before this crash.

Under Texas law, alcohol providers like bars or restaurants can share responsibility for injuries caused by patrons who were served while obviously intoxicated.

I don’t know it that applies in this instance, but the injured Honda occupants and their families deserve to know everyone who may have played a role in this accident.
