Accident Report
Corsicana, TX — May 23, 2026, two children were injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 12:15 a.m. on West 5th Avenue.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2018 GMC Acadia was heading northwest on 5th Avenue when it rear-ended a 2009 Kia Sportage at the intersection with North 15th Street/State Highway 22, causing the other vehicle to collide with a southbound 2026 Chevrolet Equinox.
A 3-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy riding in the Kia were seriously injured in the crash, according to the report. Driver Isaac Hamilton, 25, and a 23-year-old woman were not hurt, nor was the Chevrolet driver.
The GMC driver, a 44-year-old man, was charged with two counts of intoxication assault after the crash, the report states. He was not injured.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Navarro County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
If a blood test confirms the GMC driver was intoxicated, authorities should extend their investigation beyond the scene of the crash to look into where he had been drinking before the crash.
That matters because under Texas law an alcohol provider could share responsibility for injuries caused by a patron who was served while obviously intoxicated. The only way to find out if that it what happened in this instance is to extend the investigation into this accident beyond the crash scene.
Many law enforcement agencies are not willing to do that, but the injured boys’ family deserves to know everyone who may have played a role in this crash.
