A 4-year-old child was seriously injured in the crash near Crossroads Boulevard, according to authorities.
The 23-year-old driver of the vehicle that hit the barrier and the Toyota was arrested on charges of intoxication assault and injury to a child, authorities.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Bexar County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities should investigate this crash like any other injury accident, but their probe should move off the interstate if blood tests confirm the driver was intoxicated at the time. Investigators should try to determine where she had been drinking before the crash.
That is an important question because Texas law allows alcohol providers to be held responsible for injuries caused by a patron who was served while obviously intoxicated before they got behind the wheel.
Most law enforcement agencies do not conduct this kind of investigation after alcohol-related crashes, but the injured child’s family deserves to know everyone who may have played a role in this crash.
