How Did This Accident Occur?

It would be easy to assume the Chevrolet driver caused this crash by speeding or not paying attention, but in my experience facts are a better basis for figuring out how any accident happened than assumptions. Those facts will come from a full investigation of this crash.

Authorities will gather witness statements, physical evidence, data from the vehicles and any available video footage of the accident. That should show if the truck braked suddenly, and maybe if it had working taillights. But investigators likely can’t do much if they suspect the Chevrolet had a problem with its brakes.

That is beyond the capabilities of most law enforcement agencies, from what I’ve seen in my career, so a qualified expert would have to examine the vehicle in a laboratory setting.

A thorough investigation should clear up any questions the injured driver and her family have about this crash.
