How Did This Accident Occur?

Initial reports say the GMC driver caused this crash by rear-ending the other vehicle, but what if the pickup had an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? That would shift the way most people look at this crash, so a full investigation is needed to sort out what happened on I-37.

Authorities will work to reconstruct this accident by going over physical evidence, witness statements, available video footage and data from the vehicles’ engine control modules, which will show braking, speed and steering inputs at the time. If investigators suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash, a qualified expert should examine the vehicles before they are repaired or scrapped.

This investigation should provide the Jeep driver and her family with a clear picture of what caused this crash.
