Fort Worth, TX — February 2, 2024, Charlie Jones Jr. was fatally injured following an 18-wheeler hit-and-run accident at 2:35 p.m. on I-30.

Fort Worth Police Department officials reported that the accident happened along the eastbound lanes of the interstate in the area of the U.S. Highway 287 interchange.

It appears 82-year-old Charlie Jones Jr. was in a Chevy passenger car at the time traveling along I-30. Details suggest an 18-wheeler apparently merged into Jones’s lane, crashing into the car and forcing it to spin out into a guardrail. The 18-wheeler then allegedly continued driving and left the scene.

EMS transported Jones to a hospital, but he reportedly died due to his injuries on February 4. Right now, authorities do not appear to have located the runaway truck driver. They’re asking members of the public who may know more to contact authorities.
