Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

In my experience, single-vehicle accidents are too often brushed aside by the public and authorities alike. People might simply blame the driver and move on because they figure if no one else was involved in the crash, then the explanation is obvious. But what about vehicle defects? Cargo shifts? Tire blowouts? Medical emergencies? Road hazards? Other reckless drivers who fled the scene?

Likely or not, these things happen. Investigations should be able to show clear evidence that either rules out or confirms all of these possible factors. That way, the victim’s loved ones know they’re getting the whole story. But if authorities treat this crash like it’s a low priority, they could miss something important.
