A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2019 Ford F-250 was heading southwest when it rear-ended a 2020 Ford Explorer near Meadow Wood Road.
A passenger in the Explorer, 72-year-old Charla Spinler, died from injuries suffered in the crash west of Grandbury, the report states, while driver Daniel Spinler, 74, was seriously injured.
The driver of the F-250 was charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault with a vehicle, according to the report. He was not injured in the crash.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Hood County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Investigators typically scrutinize evidence from the crash scene, data from the vehicles and available witness statements and video footage, but this accident deserves some added scrutiny if it is proven that the F-250 driver was intoxicated. The question that needs to be answered is, where did he get his alcohol?
It’s one thing if he had been drinking at home, but if the pickup driver was served at a bar or restaurant while he was obviously intoxicated, that alcohol provider may share responsibility for the injuries he caused. I don’t know if that is what happened in this instance, but it warrants scrutiny to determine everyone who is accountable for this crash.
