Maverick County, TX — December 8, 2023, Carmen Velez and one other person were injured in a truck accident at approximately 8:15 p.m. along U.S. 277.
According to reports, a 52-year-old man and 42-year-old Carmen Velez were traveling in a northbound Hyundai Santa Fe on U.S. 277, Del Rio Boulevard, in the vicinity some distance south of the Lehmann Ranch Road intersection when the accident took place.
For unknown reasons, a southbound 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow on U.S. 277 attempted to make a U-turn at an unsafe time. As a result, the SUV collided with the back right section of the 18-wheeler’s trailer. Both Velez and the 52-year-old man incurred suspected severe injuries due to the crash; they were transported to a local medical facility in order to receive necessary treatment. There were no other injuries reported.
The accident is under investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been clear and dry. There are not currently any additional details available pertaining to this incident.
