The cause of the crash can’t be confirmed right now, and it could be that getting clear answers will be a very challenging process. Just about any crash involving a commercial vehicle is going to present unique hurdles. Even when the facts seem straight-forward, there could be extenuating circumstances authorities tend to overlook.

Did the victim experience a medical emergency? Was there a defect with their vehicle? Did a tire blowout? Were they illegally over-served by a bar? Did airbags and seatbelts function properly? Are there issues with the roadway itself or its signage or lighting? Common or not, these are important factors to consider. They’ve contributed to accidents before, and they will again. Even in the likely scenario that these are ruled out and more common causal factors are confirmed, it can be significant for the peace of mind of the victims and families involved. That alone should be reason enough to ensure a crash like this gets as thorough an investigation as possible.
