Arlington, TX — June 22, 2024, Carman Garza was injured as the result of a single-vehicle car accident at around 7:00 p.m. along I-30.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident took place in the area of North Collins Street along westbound lanes of the interstate.

Investigators said that 45-year-old Carman Garza was a passenger in a Ford F-150 going along I-30. For reasons not confirmed, the vehicle veered to the side, hit a guardrail, and overturned through the ditch along the freeway. As a result, Garza had serious injuries. It appears the driver wasn’t hurt.

While details can’t be confirmed right now, something that stands out to me is that only one person was injured here—apparently seriously. Why is that? It could be that circumstances just played out in an unusual way, but people in the same vehicle involved in a rollover crash like this will typically end up in similar conditions. The fact one person was seriously injured while the other person apparently was fine raises a red flag that something that should have protected the victim failed to do so. A faulty seatbelt, for example, can result in severe injuries which otherwise could have been prevented. Is that something authorities looked into at all here? Could there be more to this story that even those involved may not be aware of?
