Accident Report

August 4, 2026, one person was injured following a car hauler truck accident that happened at 2:19 p.m. off Van Nuys Boulevard.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened off the corner of Van Nuys Boulevard and Osborne Street in the Panorama City area.

According to officials, a car hauler truck was going along Van Nuys when the driver reportedly experienced a medical emergency. The truck ran off-road where it crashed into an apartment building.

Reports say that one person other than the truck driver had unspecified injuries due to the crash. The truck driver’s condition is not clear right now. Investigations are ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Authorities chalk this up to a medical emergency, which might make this all seem simply unavoidable. Maybe it was, but it’s always important to make sure of that. I had a case a while back where a truck driver’s medical emergency was totally foreseeable. His medical records showed a laundry list of issues that should have disqualified him from operating a large commercial vehicle. His employer ignored this and put him behind the wheel anyway, ignoring the risks that posed both to the general public and the driver himself. Maybe nothing like that happened here, but I hope that’s something someone looks into.
