Accident Report

March 12, 2026, a man was injured in a car accident at approximately 5:30 p.m. along University Boulevard (Farm to Market 2020).

According to authorities, a 57-year-old man was traveling in a southwest bound Jeep Commander on University Boulevard at State Loop 338 when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southwest bound Dodge Charger failed to appropriately control its speed. A collision consequently occurred between the front-end of the Charger and the rear-end of the Jeep.

The man from the Jeep reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

When people read about an accident where a vehicle failed to control its speed, most assume its due to driver error. That may very well be the case; however, I’ve been doing this job long enough to have seen plenty of similar cases where investigations turned up evidence of mechanical issues that were actually to blame.

I’m certainly not saying I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I’m just pointing out that, hypothetically, something could have gone wrong with the throttle or the brakes. Either of those issues could have been why the Charger didn’t control its speed.

An in-depth inspection on the Charger would shed light on any underlying mechanical issues that might have played a role. Hopefully, the authorities get one done. However, if they fail to take that step, a third party investigation can always do so, instead, just to make sure that all the bases are covered.
