Accident Report

July 2, 2026, a woman was injured following a car versus animal accident at around 9:25 p.m. along Highway 60.

Initial details about the crash say that it took place just south of Wadsworth along State Highway 60. Reports say that a 38-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were in a Toyota Tundra going northbound on the highway. Officials say that a “domestic animal” was in the road, and the vehicle crashed.

Due to the crash, the woman in the Toyota reportedly had serious injuries. The man reportedly did not have injuries. Additional details about the crash are unavailable at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people hear about an animal in the road and assume a resulting crash was simply unavoidable. Out in these rural areas, though, that animal could be a cow, a horse, or other livestock. Texas has laws regarding livestock owners allowing animals to get out onto the highway and cause a crash. To put it in very simple terms, if the animal got onto the road in a way that was simply unavoidable the animal owner wouldn’t be responsible for that. But if it was reasonably foreseeable and preventable, then the owner might be responsible for a resulting crash. How that all might relate to this crash depends on information that still needs to be cleared up. I just hope investigators are looking at this crash from all angles to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
