When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, it’s important to know how thorough investigations have been. It would surprise folks how often authorities basically scratched the surface before moving on. That’s why it can be important to follow up with authorities early on. Did officers have the right tools for a proper accident reconstruction? Did they inspect the vehicle for defects? Have they preserved all electronic evidence? Likely or not, all factors need attention to ensure the victims and families involved have everything they need going forward. If it seems authorities are coming up short, that may be a sign the crash should be in the hands of more thorough independent investigators.
