I can’t help wondering if there’s a reasonable explanation for why only one person was hurt here—seriously so. Generally speaking, people in the same vehicle will at least have somewhat similar outcomes. When there’s a disparity like this, it can be a red flag to inspect the victim’s vehicle for defects. Faulty seatbelts, airbags, or even seats can result in injuries being far more severe than they otherwise should be. Maybe investigators already ruled that out here, but it’s an unusual factor that I too often see authorities overlook.
