Accident Report
May 20, 2025, two people were injured due to a car accident shortly after 9:30 p.m. along State Highway 35.
According to authorities, a 16-year-old girl was traveling in a southwest bound Kia Soul on S.H. 35 in the vicinity north of Garrett Lakes, just northeast of the Austin Bayou bridge when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, a northeast bound Buick LaCrosse occupied by a 39-year-old woman veered left of center, entering the oncoming lane of traffic. A head-on collision consequently occurred between the two vehicles and the Soul apparently caught on fire.
The teenager reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The woman from the Buick suffered minor injuries, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Odds are high that the authorities in charge of this accident settle the blame on the ubiquitous “driver error”. I’m not saying that there is no way driver error was a causal factor in this accident; what I am saying is that, just because something happens much of the time, does not mean it happens all of the time. I understand that most people don’t think like me. I also understand that most people don’t have the unique perspective that I have cultivated over the last three decades. After all, I’ve personally seen cases where looking into mere possibilities has yielded truths that would have otherwise remained concealed.
There is no such thing, in my experience, as a simple car accident. They tend to be much more layered than most would assume. I hope the investigators have the wherewithal to peel back those layers and see what might have been an underlying cause in the wreck. Like what? Hypothetically, could a steering malfunction or tire failure have played a role in how the Buick entered the oncoming lane of traffic? These are questions to which the people who were affected by this accident—especially the young driver of the Soul and her family—deserve to know the answers.
