Accident Report
June 11, 2026, two people were injured as the result of a car accident at around 3:00 a.m. along S. New Braunfels Avenue.
Authorities said in initial reports that the accident happened just off the New Braunfels Avenue and Pecan Valley Road intersection.
According to officials, a 59-year-old man was in a Chevy pickup going southbound on New Braunfels Avenue. A 36-year-old woman was going northbound in a Nissan Kicks. The Chevy reportedly got on the wrong side of the road, and it crashed with the Nissan.
Investigators said that the woman in the Nissan was seriously injured. The Chevy driver had moderate injuries. Authorities say they recommended charging the pickup driver with collision involving injury.
How Did This Accident Occur?
With authorities recommending such a serious charge, it’s likely they found evidence pointing to a serious mistake causing the crash. Maybe the driver was texting and driving. Maybe they were impaired. There could have been something else going on inside the vehicle that unnecessarily distracted the allegedly at-fault driver. What’s important to consider going forward is that even a serious charge like this might not tell the whole story.
I’ve seen countless situations where folks considered a crash open-and-shut because authorities had someone they were obviously blaming. Later on, though, it would come to light that authorities only investigated the crash as far as they felt they needed to in order to file charges. For folks seriously injured in a crash, they need as much evidence telling their side of the story as possible. Authorities might not catch all of that information themselves, so it might be up to the victims and families to seek out independent investigators if the officials investigations come up short of telling the whole story.
