Lubbock County, TX — January 19, 2024, two people were injured in a car accident at approximately 11:45 p.m. along University Avenue.

According to authorities, two women ages 25 and 23 were traveling in a northbound Ford Focus on University Avenue in the vicinity of the 86th Street intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the Ford failed to yield the right of way to southbound traffic on University when making a left turn into a parking lot. This resulted in a collision between the front passenger side of the Ford and the front end of a pickup truck. The 23-year-old woman sustained suspected severe injuries as a result of the crash, while the injuries of the 25-year-old were reportedly moderate. Both women were transported to a local medical facility in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
