Accident Report

June 24, 2026, one person was injured due to a car accident shortly after 9:45 p.m. along Interstate Highway 35W.

According to authorities, a 32-year-old man was traveling in a southbound Kia Soul on the I-35W service road at the S.H. 183 intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Soul entered the intersection at an unsafe time, allegedly disregarding the signal given by the traffic light. A collision consequently occurred between the front-left quarter of the Soul and the front-end of a westbound GMC Sierra pickup truck.

The man from the Kia reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. It does not appear that anyone from the Sierra was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

When it comes to intersection-related accidents, there are some folks who will jump to the conclusion that it must have been a result of driver error. That is a distinct possibility. I have been in this line of business for over three decades. I have even seen all kinds of cases where thorough investigation ended up unearthing evidence of causes that were highly unlikely. Could that have been the case here? Let me suggest a hypothetical. What if the traffic light at the intersection was malfunctioning at the time of the wreck? While excellent tools, they are not infallible. Could it not have given contradicting signals to the involved vehicles, leading to the collision in the intersection?

Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or, if need be, a third party—are thorough enough to get to the bottom of it. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve more than the vague assumptions that often result from surface-level investigation.
