Accident Report

January 24, 2026, two people were injured as the result of a car accident at around 12:28 a.m. along Interstate 35W.

Authorities said that the crash took place off the southbound side of the interstate, just north of town. Authorities say that a 41-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were in a Nissan Altima going along the interstate. That vehicle, for reasons unclear, lost control and crashed.

Due to the accident, the woman involved had serious injuries. The man’s injuries reportedly were non-serious. At this time, additional details about the crash are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

People tend to assume that early morning single-vehicle wrecks always involved fatigue. That’s certainly common and worth considering. However, there could be other explanations, and those need to be ruled out or confirmed through clear evidence.

For example, did authorities inspect the vehicle for a potential defect? I can’t recall the last time I handled a car accident case where authorities inspected a vehicle for potential manufacturing issues the driver couldn’t avoid. It’s just not the sort of thing that tends to be a priority for their departments. So even if officers had the skills and motivation to look for potential defects, they might not have the right tools.

That’s why I always make sure that a car involved in a serious crash has been looked at by an independent professional experienced with vehicle defects. If they don’t find anything, that’s fine. But if they do, that’s a massive issue that could have otherwise slipped through the cracks.
