Houston, TX — January 12, 2024, two people were killed and two others were injured in a car accident just past 1:00 a.m. along the Gulf Freeway.

According to authorities, four people were occupying an allegedly stolen vehicle which was spotted by officers in the vicinity of the Broadway and Santa Elena Street intersection.

Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it fled and officers gave chase. At some point, the vehicle got onto the northbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway and was allegedly weaving in an erratic manner. The stolen vehicle attempted to take the exit for Interstate 610 east, but was unable to safely negotiate the maneuver. It reportedly collided with a railing and overturned as a result. It rolled an unknown number of times before finally coming to a stop resting on its roof.

The two men who had been in the front seats of the vehicle each incurred fatal injuries due to the crash. The adult man and minor female who had been in the back seat both sustained injuries of unknown severity; they were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
