Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If authorities found evidence alcohol was involved here, that could make things a lot more complex than folks may realize. Just after midnight, a lot of drivers out on the road are going to or from local bars, and those alcohol provider could be in trouble for what happened in the crash.
Simply put, alcohol providers who serve someone that is obviously intoxicated are doing so unlawfully. It can expose them to potential criminal investigations, fines, suspended licenses, or liability for harm resulting from that intoxication. Too often, though, these providers fly under the radar while authorities put all of their focus on the alleged drunk drivers. That’s why it may be necessary for a crash which may involve alcohol to get attention from independent professionals who will help to seek out the whole story, rather than just looking for someone to blame.
