June 22, 2026, a man sustained injuries following a car accident which occurred around 2:53 a.m. along Highway 12.
Initial details about the accident say that it happened at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 87, southwest of Deweyville and the Louisiana border.
According to officials, a 53-year-old man was on a Kawasaki motorcycle going westbound. A Buick Encore was going eastbound when it reportedly ran the traffic light. As a result, the vehicles collided.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries as a result. Authorities recommended charging the other driver for running the light. Additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
This early in the morning, a driver running a light raises red flags for drunk driving. I can’t say if that happened here or not without seeing clear evidence of it, just to be clear. Folks might immediately rule it out since that’s usually something authorities mention right away. Sometimes, though, there’s more to the story that makes investigations take longer. For example, if a driver runs a light and crashes after being unlawfully over-served by a bar, investigations might not be complete until authorities investigate that bar for their potential role in the crash. At the very least, I hope authorities definitively ruled out alcohol just to be safe. It’s far too common on Texas roads to be written off without evidence.
