How Did This Accident Occur?

With only one vehicle involved here, the cause of the crash will tend to either be something the driver did or some external factor they couldn’t foresee or avoid. As common as things like speeding and distraction are, there should be equal attention on less likely possible factors, such as vehicle defects or road hazards.

What often makes crashes like this unique, though, concerns what comes next for the passengers involved. Generally speaking, the only thing a passenger can really do wrong is yank the steering wheel or otherwise directly contribute to the behavior of the vehicle they’re in. That’s pretty rare, though, so what does it mean for passengers who were just along for the ride?

Well, generally speaking, whoever is responsible for the thing that caused the crash is often also responsible for the harm they suffered. Whether that’s their own driver, a city failing to maintain roads, a manufacturer of a defective vehicle, or even a bar if over-service of alcohol led to the crash. So, whatever ultimately happened here, it’s important those affected by the crash are able to prove through clear evidence what all led up to it.
