Accident Report

March 18, 2026, a woman was injured due to a car accident just after 12:30 a.m. along North Dixie Boulevard.

According to authorities, a 31-year-old woman was traveling in a northbound Ford Taurus on Dixie Boulevard approaching the University Boulevard intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Ford failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a head-on collision with a southbound Kia Optima.

The woman from the Ford reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. It does not appear that the driver of the Optima was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I have been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve developed somewhat of a pet peeve: it’s rather annoying to me when the cause of a car accident is listed as “failure to safely maintain lane of travel”. Why? Because that is not a cause; what it is is a symptom. In order to get to the root cause of the accident, investigators need to uncover what caused the lane deviation.

For example, what if the Ford experience tire failure? Or maybe an issue with the steering column? Are investigators getting an in-depth inspection done on the Taurus? An inspection done by a qualified professional in a laboratory setting would be able to bring to light any underlying mechanical malfunctions or product defects that had a hand in the wreck.

To be honest, inspections like that are not routinely done in most accident investigations; a special request might have to be made. If the authorities fail to take that step, then a third party investigation can take up that slack, just to make sure that all the bases are covered.

After all, the woman who was injured in this accident deserves to have real answers supported by solid evidence, not flimsy excuses that do little more than saddle her with possibly unmerited blame.
