How Did This Accident Occur?
People might be quick to assume a crash like this happened due to reckless driving. Considering things like cellphone usage and unsafe speed are common, that’s worth investigating. My question, though, is if people jump to those conclusions every time they see a teenager behind the wheel.
Frankly, a lot of people make conclusions based on their bias, not their experience or evidence. Even when there are concerning details about a crash, the details we see in the public eye rarely tell the whole story. That’s why I’ve always made sure to let the evidence tell the story. Regardless of what led to this crash, making hasty assumptions isn’t going to get a kid or his family a fair resolution.
If anyone’s ever been at the receiving end of unfair bias after a crash, share your experience in the comments. That could help folks put things into perspective.
