Clay County, MO — March 13, 2025, Four teens were injured following a car accident that occurred Thursday night on I-435.
An investigation is underway into a car accident that left four teenagers injured during the evening hours of March 13th. According to official reports, a vehicle operated by a 17-year-old driver with four teen passengers was travelling on I-435 in the northbound lanes near the 52.4 mile-marker when for unknown reasons the vehicle lost control and struck a barrier and rolled multiple times.
When first responders arrived on the scene, they found that the driver and three other occupants had sustained serious injuries and transported them to the hospital, while the fifth occupants reportedly sustained minor injuries. At this time there has been no further information released about the accident, including the status of the occupant’s injuries, however this remains an ongoing investigation and more details may be released in the future.

Were all occupants wearing seatbelts, and did safety systems function as expected? A detailed accident reconstruction can help ensure that every angle is considered.
Second, has anyone looked into whether a vehicle defect played a role? It’s easy to assume driver error in a crash involving teenagers, but mechanical failures—such as brake issues, steering malfunctions, or tire blowouts—can also cause a sudden loss of control.
