Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If roads were wet at the time of the crash, they no doubt played some sort of role in the crash. However, I sometimes see people just push all of the blame onto the weather and consider things open-and-shut. Usually, though, it’s not the weather that causes a crash; it’s a driver’s behavior during those inclement conditions. Driving too fast, making sudden maneuvers, driving on worn tires, not keeping proper following distance, etc. That’s why it’s important to know if authorities are being thorough and not hastily placing all of the blame on a single factor without considering the whole picture.
