Baird, TX — January 19, 2024, two people were injured in a car accident shortly before 10:00 p.m. along Interstate 20.
According to authorities, four people were traveling in a westbound pickup truck on Interstate 20 in the vicinity of Finley Road when the accident took place.

The pickup was allegedly traveling at high rates of speed on the shoulder as it passed other vehicles traveling on the interstate. Preliminary reports indicate that the truck failed to safely maintain its lane of travel, crashing into a guardrail as a result. The pickup reportedly lost one of its front tires during the collision which struck an 18-wheeler.
One of the occupants of the pickup truck was entrapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated upon arrival of emergency personnel. The driver of the truck incurred reportedly severe injuries and was flown to a medical facility in order to receive immediate treatment. The person who had been in the front passenger seat was also injured to an extent that they were driven to a medical facility for care. No other injuries have been reported.
