Matagorda County, TX — October 12, 2025, one person was killed as the result of a car accident at around 7:07 a.m. along Avenue F.
Investigators said that the accident happened on Highway 60/Ave. F between the intersections with Adams Road and Golden Avenue.
According to initial details about the accident, a 62-year-old man was in a Honda Civic going northbound on Avenue F. A Mercury Grand Marquis was going northbound as well when it reportedly left its lane. Due to this, the Mercury and the Honda collided.
Authorities say that the man in the Civic was seriously injured and did not survive. The other driver wasn’t hurt. Authorities recommended a citation for the Mercury driver.

People tend to think car accidents are open-and-shut when authorities are blaming someone. However, the process of police looking for charges or citations and the path for getting victims and families a proper resolution don’t always overlap. It can take far more thorough independent investigations to preserve to sort of evidence needed for a car accident case. It’s possible authorities have already been thorough enough that an independent investigation would simply confirm their findings. However, that’s not something I’d ever take for granted.
