Austin, TX — February 12, 2024, a child was killed and one other person was injured in a car accident that took place along U.S. 183.
According to authorities, the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the U.S. Highway 183 toll road.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, a sedan was at a stop in the middle lane of the highway with its hazard lights engaged. A hatchback vehicle allegedly collided with the rear-end of the sedan. The 10-year-old boy who had been an occupant of the back seat of the sedan incurred critical injuries as a result of the wreck. He was rushed to a local medical facility in order to receive treatment. However, he was ultimately unable to overcome the injuries he sustained and was later declared deceased. The driver of the hatchback also apparently sustained minor injuries in the accident. No other injuries have been reported.
