Austin, TX — December 3, 2023, two people were injured in a car accident just before 3:15 in the morning along State Highway 71.
According to reports, two police cars were parked in the eastbound lanes of State Highway 71 in the vicinity west of Terry Lane in order to sequester off the area of a previous crash which was under active investigation when the incident took place.

For as yet unconfirmed reasons, an Infinity which had been traveling at allegedly high speeds crashed into the rear end of one of the patrol cars. The collision caused the patrol car to be pushed reportedly 30-35 feet forward, crashing into the second patrol car.
One of the victims—a 28-year-old man—had been in the act of getting out of the front passenger door of the patrol car when the first collision occurred; the impact reportedly launched him to the right over two lanes of travel and a roadside guardrail where he came to rest. Both he and the 17-year-old man driving the Infinity sustained suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident; they were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
The accident is under active investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been clear and dry. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time.
