How Did This Accident Occur?

Any late night single-vehicle crash is going to bring up common concerns—fatigue, unsafe speeds, and alcohol are chief among them. But just because other factors may be less common doesn’t mean they should be overlooked. Even a vehicle defect, for example, needs attention. What if the vehicle’s brakes went out suddenly? That’s not something a typical police report usually covers. It takes close inspections from trained and well-equipped specialists.

Some police departments are able to do that. Others aren’t and that’s when independent investigators need to step in. If that already happened here, that’s good. However, I’ve seen far too many single-vehicle crashes get the quick-glance treatment that too often allows important evidence to slip through the cracks. If the same happened here, then there may need to be more thorough independent investigations to get the full story here.

Does that seem fair, or do you think I’m being overly cautious? Let me know in the comments.
